The 3 things you MUST know about Wrong Fuel!

Out of Fuel Support

Run out of fuel in The Heath (out of gas - as an American would say)? We operate a full Staffordshire Run Out of Fuel Service. We can come to re-fill your car any time you are stuck on the motorway, roadside far from a petrol station, or possibly even at home. Our technicians can attend with 10-20 litres of fuel (acquired at cost) and fill up the car. They can also take care of the usual issues that might go with running out of fuel - such as airlocks, vehicle failing to start, and even flat batteries as a consequence of over-cranking.

AdBlue In your Fuel

Throughout Staffordshire we have identified an increasing number of examples of AdBlue contamination wherein a driver has put AdBlue inside their diesel fuel tank. This is partly stemming from drivers not knowing how to to make use of (note: it's in fact not a fuel additive), and partially simply because the inlets for diesel and AdBlue are generally directly adjacent to each other on the automobile.

Well, precisely what is the problem with having AdBlue in your diesel car?

Seeing as the product is primarily deionised water, it's as bad as pouring water into your tank. Diesel and water really don't mix in any way and trying to run a diesel car on water isn't going to work. Moreover, the urea is particularly corrosive to the fuel system lines and seals and is susceptible to crystalising, obstructing injectors and filters. In the case you have put AdBlue into your fuel tank remove it at once. And most definitely take care not to start up the car - not even to move it off of the pump. If you have started the vehicle you would probably need to have the entire fuel system purged and filters changed.

If you discover yourself to be in this situation don’t panic! Call us, the UK’s Number 1 fuel contamination business. Our experts possess the practical competence and experience to have you back on the road quickly and efficiently, no mess, no hassle.

How to find out if I put the wrong fuel in my car?

If you’ve just filled up at a petrol station and the cars starts to act a bit strange you might start to wonder if you accidentally put the wrong fuel in it.

    • Loss of engine power – can feel like the car has run out of fuel
    • A lot of smoke (more than usual)
    • Engine coughing or starting to splutter
